For life; the pro choice
The Marmot club was founded in 1971 by Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley. To be a member you had to climb a glaciated peak and revel in the joy of bodily functions along the way. This typical university student humor grew into something serious as Eric and Dave went on to first ascents and better gear prototypes. The boys got a reputation for great gear among the guides and mountain pro's. That really paid off in the fall of 1974 when they supplied 108 down climbing jackets to the film The Eiger Sanction starring Clint Eastwood. A cult of excellence was born. In 1976 Gore-Tex was just emerging and the Marmot boys jumped at the opportunity the breakthrough fabric lamination represented. Many years later Marmot consistent innovation and unique sense of mountain cache still makes it the favorite brand for pro's everywhere.
